Hornsby Shire Welcomes New Year with Community Events

Jane Seaglove

Jane Seaglove, Hornsby Councillor

Hello Residents, Welcome back to the Hornsby Shire community after the Christmas and New Year break. We hope you were able to slow down, enjoy time with family and friends, and make the most of everything our beautiful Shire has to offer.

As we ease back into everyday life, Council is looking forward to another year of working with you to keep Hornsby Shire a great place to live. A new year brings fresh energy, new ideas, and plenty of opportunities to keep building strong and connected neighbourhoods together.

Over the months ahead, you’ll see Council continuing to look after local parks, roads, and community centres, while supporting community events, and environmental and bushland care. Protecting our bushland and waterways remains a priority, as does planning thoughtfully for the future so our Shire continues to thrive.

January is also a good time to reconnect. Whether you’re heading back to work, starting something new we encourage you to support your local businesses, and enjoy the facilities and programs available across the Shire.

Hornsby Shire local events coming up in January/February:
Fagan Park is hosting Australia Day festivities – The day kicks off with a citizenship ceremony at 10:30am, an indigenous cultural experience, followed by roving entertainment. Later on, enjoy food trucks, a BBQ, lamingtons and more of our local charm.

Get ready for Lunar New Year with Lantern making workshops on Tuesday 10th February from 10:00-12:00 at the Library. Bookings required through our website.

Love Clothes and recycling? Join The Clothes swap held on 14th February at Thornleigh Community Centre on from 9:45 – 11:45am – Bookings required through our website.

Thank you for being part of what makes Hornsby Shire such a welcoming community. We’re excited for the year ahead and look forward to sharing it with you. Here’s to a positive, healthy, and connected year for everyone who calls Hornsby Shire home.
