On a Sunday afternoon in July this year, I was privileged to attend the Hornsby Gang Show 2024 ‘Tumble Through Time.’ I became quickly transfixed by the energy, excitement and passion of the music, dancing, lights and brilliant cast.
The programme incorporated stories, songs and music which were skilfully complemented by fantastic costumes, beautiful sets, and props. The orchestra was outstanding, and the audience certainly showed their appreciation.
There were approximately 130 members in the cast of performers and over 250 ‘behind the scenes’ workers supporting the Hornsby Gang Show. Sets changed seamlessly, costumes and make-up were perfect, and lighting provided a great impact in each section of the Show.
The Hornsby Gang Show provides an avenue for Scouts and Guides to audition and be trained as performers and also develop skills in lighting, sound and sets. Importantly, the Hornsby Gang Show opens the doorway for young people from Sydney North Region Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, Leaders and Northern Sydney Region Girl Guides to enjoy new and various experiences and provides the platform for growth of friendships, teamwork, development of new skills, confidence and self-esteem.
The next Hornsby gang Show will be held in July, 2025. Auditions for the Hornsby Gang Show will re-open in December for 2025. For more information see www.gangshow.com
