At the February General Meeting of Hornsby Shire Council, A Ward Councillor, Nathan Tilbury, was elected as Deputy Mayor for the remainder of the council term.
Nathan has served as Deputy Mayor twice previously and is currently serving his third term as a Councillor. He also represents Hornsby Council as Vice President of the Northern Sydney Regional Organization of Councils (NSROC).
Well known for his contribution to local community groups Nathan previously served for many years as President of the Hornsby, Ku-ring-gai and Hills District Cricket Association and as Vice President of the Ku-ring-gai Netball Association.
In addition, he was a member of the original committee responsible for delivering the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter and, once it opened, he served on the Shelter’s Board for five years. He has been Vice President of the Hornsby Historical Society since 2016 and has published several books on our local history.
Nathan is also a passionate bushwalker, cricketer and mountain biker. He lives in Berowra Heights with his Brazilian born wife and two daughters.
His council priorities for the remainder of the term are sensible management of council’s finances, ensure council is transparent with its decision making and to continue to move forward in delivering public domain improvements, as well as with both Hornsby Park (the former quarry) and Westleigh Park as high priority recreation projects for the benefit of the entire community.
