Late last year contractors undertook maintenance on the historic bridge in Galston Gorge, that is the last original bridge of its type remaining in use in NSW.
James Wallace MP Member for Hornsby made the trip down to the Gorge last week to inspect the work and the bridge looks as good as new.
The bridge over Tunks Creek, is known as a McDonald timber truss bridge and it is part of Galston Road that officially opened on 9th March 1895. This brought the produce from the many orchards in the Galston area much closer to a railway line at Hornsby.
This bridge is heritage listed and a landmark in the Hornsby electorate.
