Hills United Women Cut Above the Rest

By Lawrence Machado
Debutants Hills United FC is setting the pace in the FNSW League One Women’s competition, with nine straight wins under their belts. Led by a timely second-half brace from Isabella Sciberras, Hills United outclassed South East Phoenix FC 4-1 over the long Easter weekend at South Nowra Football Complex.

Hills United was held 1-1 at half-time after Imogen Lane’s opening goal had been cancelled by a Madison Carter equaliser for the hosts. Ellen Berios scored the fourth goal for the Hills women who completed the ninth round in splendid fashion to be the team to beat.

Hills United face a tougher challenge this Sunday, April 24, when they host Central Coast Mariners at Bella Visa Public School grounds. (Kickoff: 3.45pm). The fifth-placed Mariners are fresh from back to back wins over Nepean FC and St George FC and could prove hard to shake off.

Hills United coach Alan Tasses must be delighted with the form of his strikers and defenders who have shown they belong in this elite league. With the classy Sciberras leading their way, It will be keen to maintain their magnificent streak and put the Mariners to the sword.

The hosts will have to keep tabs on Mariners’ in-form strikers Chloe Smith and Kaitlin Murphy who could bother Hills defence and their custodian Sarah Easthope.
