Hills, Hawkesbury Scouts to Make the Most Of Jamboree 2025

1st Quakers Hill-Doonside Scout Group

More than 140 Scouts and Venturers from The Hills and Hawkesbury are in Queensland for the 26th Australian Jamboree, providing them an unforgettable 10 days at the Maryborough Showgrounds and Equestrian Park.

The Jamboree, from January 6-15, attracts Scouts from across Australia and even overseas. There are 146 members from 15 Groups across the Hills and the Hawkesbury, including Scouts and Venturer Scouts aged from 11 to 18, supported by Rover Scouts (aged 18-25) and adult Leaders. This is the biggest event on the Australian Scouting calendar since 2019.

Scouts NSW Youth Ambassador and 1st Castle Hill Venturer Scout Amelia Moran said she is excited about the Jamboree.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the friends that I met at the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea last year,” she said. “Some of them live in Victoria and South Australia, so we can only message each other. This will be the first time we meet again in person.”

The other units in Amelia’s group include 1st Castle Hill Scout Group, 2nd Castle Hill Scout Group, 1st Kellyville Scout Group, 1st Rouse Hill Scout Group and 2nd Baulkham Hills Scout Group.

The Jamboree has many activities during the day and even more entertainment at night. Previous Jamborees have seen Guy Sebastian and Justice Crew perform to the thousands of attendees, with this year’s guest a closely guarded secret.

More than 9000 Scouts from across Australia are attending for the first Jamboree since 2019, with the 2022 event cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

West Pennant Hills Scout Group’s volunteer adult helper Yu Wang and her son Evan Zhang, a Scout, are attending.

Attending a Jamboree is regarded as the ultimate experience for any Scout, with 10 days of activities, new challenges and opportunities to make friends for life. Participants have the opportunity to surf, swim, climb, dance, laugh and explore, enjoy archery, robotics, laser tag and more.

“Scouting is filled with opportunities for young people to push themselves to the limits and grow in confidence and skills, at the same time having a great time with friends,” Scouts NSW Chief Commissioner Lloyd Nurthen said. “The Australian Jamboree is one of the biggest events in Scouting, and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be in January.”

The local Scout groups attending the Jamboree include: 1st Balcombe Heights Scout Group, 1st Castle Hill Scout Group, 1st Cherrybrook Scout Group, 1st Dural Scout Group, 1st Glossodia Scout Group, 1st Grose Vale Scout Group, 1st Hawkesbury Scout Group, 1st Kellyville Scout Group, 1st Kings Langley Scout Group, 1st Oakville Scout Group, 1st Quakers Hill-Doonside Scout Group, 1st Rouse Hill Scout Group, 2nd Baulkham Hills Scout Group, 2nd Castle Hill Scout Group, 2nd Kings Langley Scout Group, 2nd/3rd Pennant Hills Scout Group and West Pennant Hills Scout Group.
