Locals across the Hawkesbury have a few weeks left to weigh in on how the region names its streets, parks and public spaces, with Council’s revised Naming of Hawkesbury Roads and Places Policy on exhibition until Sunday, 7 September 2026.
The policy guides the naming of suburbs, roads, parks and reserves, buildings and other public places across the Hawkesbury local government area, and that stretches to gardens, car parks and open spaces too. It’s the kind of document most people never think about until a new estate goes up or an old reserve gets a facelift, but it shapes a lot of what ends up on the map.
Council first adopted the policy on 22 November 2022, and it’s since been reviewed to keep it compliant with relevant requirements and to make sure it still serves Council’s naming activities properly. The decision to put the reviewed draft out for public exhibition was made at Council’s meeting on 21 July 2026, giving residents and stakeholders room to read through it and respond before it’s finalised.
