Greyhounds Up for Adoption

Greyhounds As Pets (GAP) is holding its first adoption day of the year on Saturday, 17 January, from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm at 382 The Driftway, Londonderry.

The event will feature over 50 greyhounds available for adoption, including 3-year-old Griffin, a larger greyhound who is shy but gentle and suitable for older children and medium- to large-sized dogs.

According to GAP, many of the greyhounds attending are cat-and apartment-friendly, meeting a growing demand among adopters.

Those interested in specific dogs, including Ben, Richard, and Spook, are encouraged to submit applications in advance. The complete Dogalogue, listing all greyhounds and their suitability, is available here.

Following a series of recent adoption events, GAP has responded to strong community interest by reopening its doors. Visitors are welcome to bring their dogs to meet the greyhounds in person.

Adoption rates for the event:

  • Greyhounds under 7: $150 (normally $250)
  • Seniors 7+: $75 (normally $150)

More than 300 people attended, with 38 greyhounds rehomed and 12 placed in foster care during a 2-day holiday adoption event in December last year.

Applications to adopt a greyhound are open at gapnsw.com.au and are assessed in the order received. Responses may take a little longer over the holiday period, but the team assures they will be in touch as soon as possible.
