Galston High School has been selected to trial a NSW Government renewable energy program to better utilise their building roof space to reduce the school’s electricity costs and improve the environment.
This will help educate the next generation on the practical possibilities for renewable energy. I look forward to seeing the trial progress, delivering educational outcomes, along with energy savings. Installation is expected to be completed by the middle of 2022.
Remediation work continues on Galston Gorge and I am very aware the impact this is having on affected residents’ lives and local businesses.
I have requested Transport for NSW to open up the road as soon as it is safe to do so, even if that means a temporary traffic light – one lane system. A lot of repair work has already been done but I know there is more to do. Nevertheless I am very hopeful residents can safely get access through the Gorge very soon.
On a more positive note, I was very excited to officially open Stage 2 of the new Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital facilities. This has been a long-term project I have advocated for since being elected your State MP, and is part of a $440 million NSW State Government investment in the hospital over the past decade. There is more to do but the new emergency department and six storey clinical health service building are very welcome and much needed facilities for our community.
The 2022 Hornsby Community Building Partnership Grant Program are currently open and closes at 5pm on Friday, 10th June 2022. Grants are open to incorporated not-for-profit bodies, such as local sporting groups, social and environmental groups and School P&C’s. CBP grants are available annually for community infrastructure projects that deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes. For more information please contact my office.
