Galston Concerts go Gold and Silver

28th April sees The Galston Concerts return for their 10th year of Sunday afternoons in Galston Uniting Church.

This first of four concerts through 2024 has a Gold and Silver… Cello and Piano theme, from the 2023 ABC Classic FM audience survey of favourite instruments, listeners voting the Cello as Gold, the Piano as Silver.

After triumphs in Europe and the USA the now Sydney-resident Australian-Hungarian husband and-wife duo of Zoltan Szabo, cello, and Erzsi Marrosszeky, piano, will perform popular music by Classical greats.

It’s a ‘Bs’ theme with music by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms: Budapest, Barcelona and Buenos Aires toe-tapper ‘encores’ plus ‘non-B’ Chopin, Handel and Schubert – for many a ‘Top Ten’ line-up; for most it’s definitely ‘Top Twenty’.

Zoli’s many years with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and as a Principal Cellist for the Australia Ballet and Opera Australia at Sydney Opera House are now balanced by his faculty role at Sydney Conservatorium.

Erzsi’s piano talents are balanced by multi-skills as a choir director of European and Australian choirs and as a past President of the Australian National Choral Association in NSW.
