Congratulations to Annangrove resident Eugene Moylan who recently donated blood for the 75th time. One in three Australians will need blood in their lifetime so Eugene said he does what he can to help. Every donation can save up to three lives.
Eugene, who has eleven siblings, married his high school sweetheart Carey Anne when he was 19 years old. By 30 years of age, Eugene had five children, had obtained his medical degree and started working as an oncologist. In 1992, Eugene and Carey Anne bought five acres in Annangrove from the sale and subdivision of Amaroo Park Raceway.
Eugene and Carey Anne raised eight children who have gone on to become nurses, social workers, teachers and engineers. They will celebrate their 47th wedding anniversary next month.
Eugene is a member of the choir at St Madeleine’s and Our Lady of Angels parishes. You may see Eugene on a weekend cycling along Annangrove Road or Blue Gum Road.
Blood is needed somewhere in Australia every 24 seconds, but currently, only 3.5 percent of people donate blood.
