15 locals and groups received financial assistance as part of the first round of the Hawkesbury City Council’s 2025/2026 Community Sponsorship Program, with more than $12,000 in total.
The program aims to help selected locals represent their community at regional, national or international sporting or cultural events; subsidise half the cost of hiring a Council or community facility; and support local activities that promote a connected, healthy, resilient Hawkesbury.
Nine locals who engage in sports received $150 in funding. Three of them will represent Australia in theatre, rugby, and dance, while the remaining six will compete nationally in equestrian, rugby, softball, and supercross.
The Women’s Cottage received $3,000 in support for the Reclaim the Night event. Meanwhile, Country Women’s Association Kurrakong, RuffTRACK, and North Richmond Community Centre each received $2,000 to improve digital connectivity, support an open day, and help organise a Halloween disco, respectively.
On the other hand, Glossodia Community Centre received $1,500 for a Christmas gathering, and the Colo Heights Progress Association will receive a 50% subsidy on the use of the Hoorie Ely Memorial Hall at $216.
