Community groups such as the Combined Probus Club of Cherrybrook continue to provide retirees with opportunities to stay active, social and engaged through a diverse calendar of events.
A recent rail excursion to Katoomba delivered more than just scenic views of the Blue Mountains. Members found themselves travelling on one of the final services of the long-serving NSW V Set trains, attracting rail enthusiasts eager to document the fleet’s last days of operation.
The day trip also included a seniors’ lunch in Katoomba, highlighting the club’s focus on affordable outings that encourage members to explore new places while enjoying good company.
The group’s activities extend well beyond rail travel. Members regularly participate in social bowling events, happy-hour gatherings, and heritage visits to locations such as The Rocks Discovery Museum. Walking excursions have included a stroll across the Sydney Harbour Bridge from McMahons Point and a relaxing visit to Wendy’s Secret Garden.
Interest groups within the club also cater to hobbies such as crafts, books, card games, mahjong, golf, walking, and gardening.
Plans for the coming months feature theatre outings to The Great Gatsby and The Graduate, a social drive to Patonga and the annual Changeover Lunch.
Monthly meetings are held at the Cherrybrook Community and Cultural Centre, where new members are welcome to learn more about the club’s activities and community connections.
