Wintry weather has done nothing to slow the Combined Probus Club of Cherrybrook, with members turning out for a run of outings that took in printing history, island trails and blooming gardens. A visit to the Penrith Museum of Printing stood out.
Retired tradespeople now volunteering at the museum walked members through a lineup of old printing presses, cracking jokes along the way, and sent everyone home with a goody bag.
The club’s walking group caught a ferry to Dangar Island for a discovery walk around the island, while the garden enthusiasts timed a trip to Eryldene Garden in Gordon perfectly, arriving as the rare camellias hit full bloom. Members later gathered for dinner at The Eastern City Chinese Restaurant, keeping the socialising local.
At a recent meeting, the club welcomed six new members into the fold. Attention now turns to what’s coming: a visit to the Quarantine Station in Manly, a run of theatre outings, a social drive, a walk along the Kokoda Memorial walkway, a low-cost Opal-ticket outing, and a Christmas-in-July trip away that organisers say has something for everyone.
