The Combined Probus Club of Cherrybrook has packed a lot into recent weeks, taking members on a group tour from the coast to the dam wall and back again, all in what the group describes as near-perfect weather.
The club’s latest round of outings leaned hard into Sydney’s public transport network. One full-day trip used an Opal card to reach Kiama, the outer limit of the $2.50 metropolitan rail fare, where members spread out to sightsee and have lunch at their own pace.
A separate bus trip headed west to Warragamba Dam, with a stop at Burragorang Lookout before lunch in Mulgoa. Closer to home, members caught the Metro to Kellyville, walked through to Rouse Hill for lunch, then rounded out the day at Fagan Park gardens.
Guest speaker Dr Andrew Campbell drew a strong crowd with his talk on the links between hearing health and brain health. Morning teas marked Easter, Anzac Day and Mother’s Day, each one running as its own small celebration. The club’s sports and interest groups have continued to meet through it all, keeping the regular rhythm of fitness and social activity ticking along.
Coming up, the club has lined up visits to the Quarantine Station at Manly, Eryldene Garden at Gordon and the Penrith Printing Museum, plus a walk on Dangar Island. On the theatre side, members have tickets to The Lion King, Waitress and The Last Witch.
Monthly meetings are held at the Cherrybrook Community and Cultural Centre on the first Thursday of each month. Those interested can call Vicki on 0417 200 351.
