Bromeliad Bulletin

Bromeliad Bulletin: The next meeting of the Bromeliad Society of Australia will be held at the Federation Pavilion, Castle Hill Showground, Castle Hill on Saturday, 2nd of November with sales to the public from 10am and the meeting commencing at 12 noon.

Our guest speaker will be Nina Woodcock who is a passionate gardener that has discovered the joy of cultivating bromeliads from seed.

Nina will cover many techniques about growing Bromeliads from seed. She has been growing bromeliads since 2020 and commenced cross pollination of bromeliads seeds in 2021 around the time she joined the Bromeliad Society of Australia.

She will bring lots of examples of her germination methods and some mature plants that she has grown from seed, including billbergia, aechmea, puya, dickya, neoregelia, alcantarea, canistrum, quesnelia, vriesea, hyleaciym and Tillandsia.

Nina became interested in growing bromeliads after finding some at a local market where Steve and Edwina Wain had a stall. She went back to buy more and then started looking online for places to buy more.

That’s when she discovered several bromeliad groups on Facebook with many wonderful growers selling plants from all along the east coast of Australia.

There will be our usual ‘Show, Tell and Ask’ session where members and guests can submit plants for discussion.

We also have our very popular plant raffle.
