Box Hill’s First Sports Fields Are Now Open

Residents of The Hills Shire celebrated the grand opening of Box Hill’s first sports fields on Saturday with a fun and free family event on Saturday, 15 June 2024.

The milestone was marked with a plaque unveiling by the Mayor of The Hills Shire Council Dr Peter Gangemi, alongside the President of the Box Hill Bears Cricket Club Damitha Silva and the President of the Box Hill Buffalos Rugby League Club Darrin Rawlings.

The day featured free gelato, coffee, face painting and free custom engraved dog tags provided by Council’s Compliance team. Attendees also enjoyed free sporting activities led by Cricket NSW Sydney Thunder, Box Hill Bears Cricket Club, and Motiv8 Sports.

Mayor of The Hills Shire Council Dr Peter Gangemi said the opening of Brindle Parkway Reserve heralded new opportunities for Box Hill residents to partake in a diverse range of sports and recreational activities.

“The opening of Brindle Parkway Reserve marks a significant milestone for Box Hill,” Mayor Gangemi said.

“Local sports teams now have a wonderful new home to play within Box Hill. Residents also have an additional place to take the kids to the playground, go for a walk, keep active or have a picnic close to home.
