When we think of our bush, we imagine expanses of green, lots of different greens.
However some Australian native plants have grey leaves. Flannel flowers, quite commonly seen in the bush in our area, have soft grey leaves.
As you travel into the dry interior of Australia grey foliage becomes more common. It is an advantage as it reflects the sunlight better. Quite often the flowers are bright yellow.
The local group of the Australian Plants Society will be hearing a talk “Amazing Greys” by Brian Roach, who is familiar with grey native plants and successfully grows a variety of them in Sydney.
This talk will be at our meeting at 2pm on Saturday 28th June. Our meetings are in Gumnut Hall, to be found right at the end of Gumnut Place, Cherrybrook. After the talk afternoon tea will be available. Visitors are very welcome.
