Arcadian Quilters’ Colorful Theme for 2026

Arcadian Quilters are welcoming 2026 with a theme grounded in colour — not merely as an artistic choice, but as a reflection of community spirit. Peace, safety and achievement are the guiding tones the group hopes to see stitched into the months ahead.

Their inspiration comes from an unexpected source: a quilt begun in 1995 and left incomplete for decades. The traditional ‘square-in-a-square’ design had been carefully hand pieced, with early quilting underway, before progress stalled. During a house relocation, the unfinished work resurfaced, nearly becoming a casualty of decluttering.

Instead, it sparked renewed determination. With more than half completed, the quilt is now being finished, its revival marking a quiet triumph over time and hesitation. What once seemed forgotten will soon emerge as a birthday gift — proof that creativity can patiently wait for its moment.

The group sees parallels between the revived quilt and the broader rituals of January. New Year’s resolutions need not be dramatic; sometimes they involve refreshing a cupboard with paint, restoring a neglected patch of garden, or tackling a room long overdue for change.

Arcadian Quilters return to regular meetings on 21 January 2026 at the Community Health Centre at The Glade, Galston. Gatherings continue on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays each month at 9.30 am, offering a space where colour, craft and community intersect — and where unfinished projects are given a second chance.
